Why EdSoup?
EdSoup is a matching service which allows colleges to find their ideal students. Instead of wading through dozens of schools and filling out dozens of different forms as you would on a typical online college directory, all you have to do is fill out one free profile that colleges will use to determine if you're the right fit.
There are six steps involved. The first step will ask whether or not you are currently a college student. One simple question. And then you're off to the second step where you will give standard login information, contact information, and personal information such as race, date of birth, and gender. The third step will request your desired college info. It will first ask the type of college you're interested in. EdSoup offers both on-campus and online colleges and not just those obscure colleges that no one has ever heard of. Because of this there will be a wider variety of online schools that will have access to your information, besides the ones you usually see promoted heavily throughout the internet. After you've chosen the type of school, you will then be asked which state you're interested in. Assuming you would like to attend college online, you should select all the states.
In the fourth step you will give the name of the high school you attended and your graduation year. The fifth step will ask for financial information--mainly how you plan to pay (through loan and/or grant). And in the sixth and final step you can tell in your own words what your ideal college experience would be, but this is not required. Keep in mind also that only fields with a red asterisk mark are mandatory.
It should only take about 3 to 5 minutes to complete the profile. And that's it. The only thing left to do now is wait to be contacted. You have control over how many colleges may contact you, whether it be 1 or 10. And before I forget, you will also be given access to two college advisors. How awesome is that? I know from personal experience that they are very timely in getting back to you with any questions you may have.
